Daewoo E&C completes construction of fertilizer plant in Nigeria

SEOUL, June 12 (Yonhap) — Daewoo Engineering & Construction (E&C) Co. said Friday it has completed construction of the third unit of a fertilizer plant in Nigeria, which is designed to produce ammonia and urea.

The US$265 million project, commissioned by Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Ltd. (IEFCL) in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, began in October 2023 and was completed in May, the South Korean builder said.

The facility includes an ammonia production unit with a capacity of 2,300 tons per day and a urea fertilizer production unit capable of producing 4,000 tons per day.

Daewoo E&C said it has previously completed the first and second phases of the fertilizer plant, as well as natural gas processing facilities and other urea fertilizer production projects in the country.
