Cuba Fire Department launches fundraiser to aid in recovery | News

CUBA, Ky. — The Cuba Community Volunteer Fire Department has launched a fundraiser following a structure fire the station suffered on Thursday, Aug. 13. You can support the department’s recovery through the GoFundMe at gofund.me/69811d766.

“Although our firefighters acted quickly and were able to save our apparatus and much of our equipment, the blaze still resulted in substantial losses,” Cuba Fire Department said on the platform. “Several critical items were damaged or destroyed, and replacing them is essential to ensuring we can continue protecting our community with the highest level of safety and readiness.”

According to the department, funds raised will go directly toward replacing critical operational equipment, including:

• Protective turnout gear that shields firefighters from heat, smoke and hazardous conditions.
• Personal protective equipment required for safe emergency response.
• Office and administrative supplies needed for daily operations and incident reporting.
• Radio and communication equipment vital for coordination during emergencies.
• Traffic safety equipment used to protect responders and the public at roadway incidents.
• Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus oxygen, which uses compressed breathing air rather than pure oxygen for standard firefighting work.

“As a rural volunteer department, we rely heavily on community support,” Cuba Fire Department said. “Any donation — whether financial assistance, equipment contributions, or connections to organizations that may be able to help — will directly strengthen the safety of our firefighters and the residents we proudly serve.”
