Cops are looking for the suspect who allegedly knocked out a 66-year-old man in Jamaica with a sucker punch in broad daylight.

Police from the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica are looking for a suspect who allegedly assaulted an elderly man in broad daylight on the afternoon of Sunday, Aug. 9.
Police say the 66-year-old victim was walking past a storefront at 166-29 Jamaica Ave. at 1 p.m. when a shirtless stranger approached him and became irate. The suspect punched the senior in the face with a closed fist, causing him to lose consciousness, fall to the ground, and sustain a laceration to the face, police said. The assailant ran off westbound on Jamaica Avenue toward Merrick Boulevard.
EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.
In New York City, when a suspect assaults an elderly person over the age of 65, and the assailant is at least ten years younger, the charge is upgraded to assault in the second degree, which is a Class D felony with a penalty of up to seven years in prison.
The NYPD released a surveillance image of the suspect on Aug. 12 and asked for the public’s help in identifying him. He is described as having a dark complexion with very short hair and a black goatee. He has multiple tattoos on his left chest and both arms and wore black sweatpants and white sneakers.
A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest and indictment.

Through Aug. 9, the 103rd Precinct has reported 491 felony assaults so far in 2026, 29 more than the 462 reported at the same point last year, an increase of 6.3%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
