Climate Center warns of heat exhaustion as heatwave returns through weekend

CAIRO – 24 August 2026: Dr. Mohamed Ali Fahim, Head of the Climate Information Center at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, warned of a return of high temperatures and increased intensity of the heatwave in the coming days.

He indicated that this weather pattern will persist until at least the end of the week, accompanied by heightened heat and heat exhaustion.

Fahim explained that the heatwave will be more experienced in Upper Egypt and inland areas, which are more affected by the high temperatures.

This coincides with continued high humidity levels in northern Egypt and large areas of Lower Egypt and Cairo.

He pointed out that the combination of high temperatures and high humidity will intensify the perceived heat, making the weather more oppressive for citizens, especially during the daytime. This increases the risk of heat exhaustion when exerting oneself or being directly exposed to sunlight for extended periods.

The head of the Climate Information Center pointed out that the continuation of these weather conditions not only affects humans but also extends to agricultural crops, which face new heat stresses that could impact growth and production rates, especially in areas most exposed to high temperatures.

He stressed that farmers are required during this period to increase their monitoring of crops and pay attention to agricultural practices that help plants overcome heat stress, while taking into account prevailing weather conditions and avoiding any practices that could increase plant damage.
