Bowling Green State University women’s basketball coach Fred Chmiel has announced the addition of Sara Caetano to the program. Caetano, a 5-foot-8 guard, will join the Falcon family for the 2026-27 academic year.

Caetano, a native of Angola, has represented her country in various competitions over the past few years, including the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in 2023 and 2025.

In the 2025 event, she averaged a double-double in the qualifiers, with 13.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in those two contests. Caetano also averaged four assists.

Then, in three tournament games, Caetano had 17 points and six rebounds per outing, shooting 50% from the field in all three games as Angola advanced to the quarterfinals.

Caetano played for Quinta Dos Lombos in Portuguese Liga Feminina in the 2025-26 season, averaging 11.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game during regular-season play as the club went 20-2 and captured the title.

In the playoffs, Quinta dos Lombos swept both Sporting Clube de Portugal Lisboa and GDESSA/BARREIRO in the best-of-three quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, respectively, and advanced to the finals against Sport Lisboa Benfica. She averaged 10 points and 5.9 boards for the team in 2024-25.
