Chinese MFA spox: U.S. to end blockade and sanctions against Cuba – VIDEO

China has called on the United States to immediately end its blockade and sanctions against Cuba, News.Az reports.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on July 15, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Beijing has consistently opposed Washington’s longstanding policy toward the island.

“China has made its position clear on multiple occasions. The U.S.’s more than 60 years of full blockade and illicit sanctions have brought profound suffering to the Cuban people,” Lin said.

He noted that the United States had recently tightened its blockade and sanctions measures once again, severely affecting the Cuban people’s basic livelihood and drawing concern from the international community.

“The U.S. needs to heed the call for justice from the international community, stop its blockade, coercion, and pressure against Cuba at once, and stop violating the Cuban people’s right to survival and development,” the spokesperson stressed.

Lin reaffirmed China’s support for Cuba, saying Beijing firmly backs Havana in safeguarding its national sovereignty and resisting external interference.

“We stand ready to work with the rest of the world to uphold international fairness and justice,” he added.
