CAMTEL Pledges Support for Interoperable Digital Infrastructure in Cameroon
The telecommunications operator made the commitment during the Internet Governance Forum of Cameroon (FGI Cameroon 2026), which concluded on August 20 after three days of discussions on the country’s digital transformation.
Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) has reaffirmed its role in supporting the country’s digital transformation, highlighting interoperability, digital identity and secure data exchange as key pillars of its contribution to Cameroon’s digital future.
The telecommunications operator made the commitment during the Internet Governance Forum of Cameroon (FGI Cameroon 2026), which concluded on August 20 after three days of discussions on the country’s digital transformation.
During a closing roundtable on the development of a national roadmap for the inclusive governance of digital public infrastructure, CAMTEL Director General Judith Yah Sunday épse Achidi outlined four key areas of the company’s action: interoperability, national benchmarks, digital identity and data exchange platforms.
CAMTEL said these areas are central to building a more connected and integrated digital public ecosystem, where government systems can securely exchange information and support the delivery of digital services.
Yah Sunday stressed that digital services depend on the availability of robust infrastructure, high-performance networks and secure hosting capabilities. She identified national connectivity and resilient infrastructure, skills development through partnerships with the Ministry of Higher Education, and continuous innovation as key levers for achieving this objective.
According to CAMTEL, the goal is to establish secure and interoperable data-exchange platforms capable of operating within high-trust digital environments.
The company said its approach is aligned with the government’s broader efforts to strengthen digital public infrastructure, digital sovereignty and inclusive access to digital services.
CAMTEL reaffirmed its commitment to working with the government and other stakeholders to develop infrastructure capable of supporting interoperability and secure data exchange, positioning the company as a key infrastructure provider in Cameroon’s digital transformation agenda.
The development comes as Cameroon explores ways to reduce fragmentation among public digital platforms and create a more integrated digital ecosystem in which citizens and institutions can access and exchange information more efficiently.
