Cameroon Records 1.9 Trillion CFA Francs in Investments, 16,000 Jobs Under Incentive Scheme Since 2014

Cameroon has recorded nearly 1.9 trillion CFA francs in realised investments and created more than 16,000 direct jobs under its investment incentive programme, according to updated figures released by the Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) on May 29.

The agency said the figures were drawn from a mid-term assessment of 156 companies approved under the programme between 2014 and 2024.

According to the IPA, 453 companies received approval during the period, representing projected investments of 8 trillion CFA francs and an estimated 180,000 jobs over the lifetime of the projects.

Of the firms assessed so far, nearly 1.9 trillion CFA francs in investments have already been deployed and more than 16,000 direct jobs created, the agency said.

The IPA noted that many approved projects remain under implementation and that updated assessments currently being finalised are expected to show additional investment spending and job creation.

A comprehensive evaluation of all approved projects will only be possible once investment cycles are completed, a process expected to continue until 2039, as some incentives granted under Cameroon’s investment legislation remain valid for up to 15 years.

The agency linked the results to Cameroon’s efforts to improve its business climate and attract investment. It highlighted Ordinance No. 2025/002, signed on July 18, 2025, which introduces a revised framework of investment incentives aimed at supporting business activity and attracting both domestic and foreign investors.

The IPA also noted that project implementation has taken place amid global economic disruptions, including the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical tensions and supply-chain constraints.

Despite these challenges, the agency said approved projects continue to advance across multiple sectors of the economy, contributing to investment mobilisation, employment and long-term growth.
