Cameroon Plans December UK Business Mission for Capital, Technology

Cameroon plans to send an economic mission to the United Kingdom in December 2026, seeking British financing, technology and industrial partnerships for projects in sectors including energy, infrastructure, agriculture and agro-industry. Trade Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana discussed preparations for the mission on Sept. 7 with British High Commissioner to Cameroon Matthew David Woods, according to the Ministry of Trade.

The initiative is expected to bring together Cameroonian companies, business associations, economic interest groups and public institutions with projects that could attract British partners.

The ministry said the mission will seek financing, technology, expertise and commercial or industrial partnerships as the government works to strengthen economic ties with the UK and increase local processing. Energy, infrastructure, agriculture, agro-industry, consumer goods and manufacturing have been identified among the sectors with business potential.

“The UK has thought of the Minister of Trade to lead this Cameroonian economic mission to the United Kingdom,” Woods said.

The planned mission comes as bilateral trade between Cameroon and the UK is growing. Data from the UK Department for Business and Trade, cited by the ministry, show that bilateral trade in goods and services reached £339 million over the four quarters ending in the third quarter of 2025, up 10.1% from the previous year. UK imports from Cameroon rose 22.3% over the period to £225 million.

The December mission is expected to connect selected Cameroonian projects with potential British financiers and industrial partners. It will also take place within the framework of the Cameroon-UK Economic Partnership Agreement, signed on March 9, 2021, following Brexit. The agreement entered into force on July 9, 2021.

Under the agreement, eligible Cameroonian goods benefit from duty-free and quota-free access to the British market, while Cameroon is progressively liberalizing tariffs on selected UK products. The ministry said preparations are already underway to identify businesses, institutions and projects that could participate in the mission.

Its services have been instructed to begin the selection process, with initial proposals expected to be submitted to the British High Commission by the end of this week.

The selection process will determine which companies, institutions and projects participate in the December mission, which is expected to focus on financing, technology, expertise and commercial and industrial partnerships.
