As part of another stage of preparation for the Liga Evolução, to be played in September in Paraguay, the Brazil Men’s U-15 National Team faces Uruguay this Wednesday (19) at 11 a.m. at Granja Comary, in Teresópolis (RJ). The friendly will kick off at 11 a.m., with live coverage on CBF TV. On Saturday (22), the two teams will meet again at the same venue.

“The two matches are meant to consolidate our ideas, the content we’ve worked on with the players during these seven days of activities at Granja Comary. Above all, to consolidate behaviors, and that has also been worked on with the U-17 and U-20 national teams. We have to understand the importance of the emotional aspect for this U-15 generation, which is heading into its first official competition. Hopefully they can carry out, with awareness, everything we proposed during this period,” said head coach Guilherme Dalla Déa.

He highlighted the opponent’s physical aspect, stressing that it broadens the possibility of evaluating the Brazilian players in the face of a specific challenge.

“Uruguay is a team that imposes itself physically. We have some experience with previous Uruguayan teams; they rely more on physicality than technique. The Brazil National Team looks to dictate play all the time. Our main goal, in this fifth stage, is for them to be able to finish their plays, to gain that confidence. I’ve emphasized a lot that we need to finish every move with a shot on goal,” Dalla Déa continued.

In July, the U-15 National Team played two friendlies against Chile, both in Santiago, and earned two emphatic wins: 8-1 and 4-2.

For forward Gabriel Bueno of Palmeiras, top scorer in the first edition of the Copa do Brasil U-15, held recently with its final stage at Granja Comary, the two matches against Uruguay will give the Brazil National Team more experience because of the rival team’s strength.

In his third stint with the youth ranks of the Canarinho, Gabriel has a role model in Brazilian football: fellow forward Estêvão, formerly of Palmeiras and now at Chelsea. He explains why he looks up to him.

“The kind of person he is off the pitch, with humility and kindness, giving attention to everyone. He’s different not only on the pitch, I’m a fan.”
