The global logistics mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market showed increased activity in July 2026, with companies seeking to expand scale, add capabilities, and extend geographic reach, according to the July 2026 Global Logistics M&A Recap report by Logisyn Advisors and Transport Intelligence (TI).
Europe and North America each accounted for 42% of acquisitions recorded during the month, while South America represented a smaller share with two transactions. Several deals directly involved Latin America or companies with a presence in the region.
International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) acquired a logistics operation in Brazil to expand its rail and multimodal offering, with the aim of improving efficiency and reducing bottlenecks. The deal forms part of the port operator’s strategy to extend activities beyond terminals and strengthen hinterland connectivity.
Descartes Systems Group acquired Chilean transport technology company Drivin, which provides route optimisation, dispatch, delivery execution, and real-time operational visibility. The report identifies Latin America as a growth market for Descartes, with the acquisition expanding its fleet performance management and last-mile logistics capabilities.
Among the largest transactions was CMA CGM’s acquisition of FedEx Supply Chain for US$1.400 billion. The deal will allow CEVA Logistics to triple its contract logistics operations in North America, reaching approximately 150 distribution centres. CEVA also has a land network in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Central America.
The report identifies a shift in logistics consolidation towards technology, market penetration, integration, and complementary services. In July, software accounted for 18% of acquisitions, while freight forwarding, last-mile delivery, and transportation each represented 15%. Together, the three segments accounted for 45% of transactions.
Latin America’s share of global M&A activity remained limited, but transactions involving ICTSI, Descartes, and CMA CGM show the region’s role in expansion strategies focused on rail and multimodal connectivity, port infrastructure, last-mile technology, fleet management, warehousing, contract logistics, and integrated supply chain solutions.
