Body found floating near Jamaica Bay shoreline: NYPD


QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A body was found floating near the Jamaica Bay shoreline in Queens on Friday morning, police said.

Authorities found the unconscious man in the water near Beach 21st Street and Newport Avenue in Jamaica Bay at 7:35 a.m., according to the NYPD.

Medics pulled the clothed man from the water and pronounced him dead at the scene, police said. Sources said it appeared that the body had been in the water for a long time because the bones were visible.

It was unclear if he was a victim of a crime. He has not been identified.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
