Bill Simmons reacts as favourite soccer team Tottenham Hotspur sell two key players
Like many Americans, Bill Simmons is determined to follow soccer year-round after the successful 2026 World Cup.
This summer’s tournament in the United States converted thousands into football fans, and the new season is almost here.

The English Premier League is by far the most popular domestic competition, with billions of viewers worldwide.
Simmons is among those who have decided to support a team for the first time this year, and he has chosen Tottenham.
He even reacted to two players leaving Spurs in the summer transfer window ahead of their first match against Brentford.

Bill Simmons reacts to Tottenham’s latest departures
Tottenham have undergone a major rebuild under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, spending over £200 million on signings.
Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jean Paul van Hecke have all joined from other English clubs for significant fees.

Spurs were always going to sell a few players to balance the books, and now Cristian Romero and Djed Spence have made way.
Romero has joined Atletico Madrid for £34.2 million, while Spence has completed a £30 million move to Inter Milan.
While both were key players for Spurs last season, Bill Simmons tweeted: “We didn’t need these guys.”
Simmons’ statement is probably more true for Romero, given that Spurs already have several quality centre-backs.
Spence’s departure is more controversial because Pedro Porro is now the only recognised right-back at the club.
