American singer Beyonce donated US$1 million to support communities affected by the devastating earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10, 2026. The contribution is intended to help people who lost their homes or were left in vulnerable conditions following the emergency, with particular attention to some of the hardest-hit areas of the country.

The donation was announced through Parkwood Entertainment, Beyonce’s entertainment company. The funds will be channeled through Food For The Poor and World Central Kitchen, two humanitarian organizations involved in providing assistance to affected communities.

The contribution will help address immediate needs such as food, shelter, and basic supplies. Among the areas expected to receive support are Choco and Valle del Cauca, two departments that suffered significant consequences from the earthquake.

The funds provided by Beyonce will primarily be used for emergency assistance rather than long-term development projects. Food For The Poor and World Central Kitchen will use part of the contribution to provide assistance to people facing difficulties accessing food and other essential supplies.

World Central Kitchen, an organization founded by chef José Andrés, has extensive experience assisting communities affected by natural disasters through the preparation and distribution of meals. Its participation will help turn part of the donation into direct assistance for families dealing with the consequences of the emergency.

Food For The Poor will also participate in the humanitarian response, particularly through initiatives addressing basic needs and housing. The collaboration between the two organizations seeks to expand the reach of the aid and assist communities where infrastructure damage has made access to services and supplies more difficult.

Channeling the contribution through specialized organizations will also allow the funds to become part of humanitarian operations that are already underway. In this way, the donation will support an existing relief structure rather than creating a separate program.

Beyonce joins international expressions of solidarity

Beyonce’s contribution joins other solidarity initiatives that have emerged following the earthquake. Different artists, companies, and organizations have announced donations and assistance programs aimed at communities dealing with the consequences of the disaster.

Beyond the financial value of the contribution, the involvement of an international figure such as Beyonce could help increase global awareness of the emergency in Colombia. Support from an artist with a worldwide audience can draw attention to the needs of affected communities and encourage additional contributions from individuals, companies, and organizations.

For families affected by the disaster, however, priorities remain focused on immediate needs such as food, safe shelter, medical assistance, and basic supplies.

The contribution also highlights the importance of cooperation among international organizations during a disaster. By working with entities that have experience responding to emergencies, the funds can become part of coordinated operations aimed at assisting people facing the most difficult circumstances.
