Barker Extends Impressive Unbeaten Streak

Simba SC head coach Steve Barker has praised his players for their commitment and resilience after extending his impressive unbeaten league run with three consecutive away victories in the 2026/27 NBC Premier League.

The South African oversaw a 2-1 win over Singida Black Stars at Airtel Stadium on Saturday, maintaining Simba’s 100 per cent start to the campaign with nine points from three matches.

The victory marked a perfect week for the Reds, who played all three matches away from home, according to Pan-Africa Football.

Barker Praises Resilient Simba

Barker described the achievement as significant given the demanding schedule, but admitted disciplinary problems remain a concern after Simba received a red card for the third consecutive match.

“Three away games in a matter of a week, so for us to come away with nine points is really important, massive,” Barker said.

“Despite three matches in a row getting a red card, which is something that we need to address because it does make it difficult for us,” he added.

“Today I thought, especially in the first half again, we dominated, some of the best I’ve seen us play,” Barker said of the win over Singida.

Barker’s Unbeaten Run Extends

Barker’s unbeaten streak in the Tanzanian Premier League now sits at 28 games, extending back to last season, with the club last tasting defeat in the league in December 2025, before Barker’s appointment.

The 58-year-old guided the Reds to the Muungano Cup and the CRDB Bank Federation Cup in his debut campaign, but narrowly missed out on the league title, finishing two points behind rivals Young Africans.

With nine points from three matches this season, Barker’s side sits among the early leaders as they look to dethrone Manqoba Mngqithi’s Yanga.
