Defending champions Yanga defeated Fountain Gate FC away from home at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha, while Simba overcame Geita Gold FC by the same scoreline at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The results mean both clubs have collected the maximum 15 points from their opening five matches, with Yanga retaining first place thanks to their superior goal difference, according to Pan-Africa Football.

Yanga and Simba Keep Their Distance

Yanga continued their outstanding title defence with a composed performance, as striker Peter Shalulile opened the scoring to give the champions the advantage in Arusha.

Midfielder Mudathir Yahya then added a second goal to put the visitors firmly in control and complete another important away victory, extending Yanga’s winning streak to five matches.

Simba responded with an equally important 2-0 victory against newly promoted Geita Gold at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium, with Steve Barker’s side securing the three points without conceding and keeping their perfect record intact.

SA Coaches Set the Pace in Title Race

Both teams are level on 15 points after five matches, with Yanga top on goal difference and Simba hot on their heels, underlining the growing intensity of the rivalry between the two Dar es Salaam giants.

Both teams are enjoying steady unbeaten streaks that have underlined their dominance, with Simba on a 16-game winning streak, which is in the midst of a 28-game unbeaten run, while Yanga are on a 12-game winning run, according to Flashscore.

South African coaches Barker and Manqoba Mngqithi have transformed the title race into a personal duel, with neither side yet dropping a point this season.

Yanga now turn their attention to continental football, travelling to Botswana to face Gaborone United on 5 September in CAF Champions League qualifying, while Simba travel to Malawi to face Mighty Wanderers a day later.
