The story
From the Theatre of Dreams to Camp Nou, football nostalgia is having another moment in fashion, with Manchester United and FC Barcelona both turning to their archives for new retro collections celebrating some of the most memorable kits in their histories.
Barcelona have unveiled an in-house collection inspired by the club’s iconic 1992-1995 Dream Team era, while Manchester United have revisited designs from the 2000s, bringing back shirts associated with the Vodafone and AIG eras.
At Barcelona, first-team stars Pedri, Gavi and Raphinha front the latest collection, which draws heavily from the period when Johan Cruyff’s side dominated domestically and enjoyed European success.
The centrepiece is a remake of the 1992-95 shirt, recreating the look of the classic Kappa-era design while removing the original manufacturer’s branding.
The jersey features traditional wide blaugrana vertical stripes, an authentic spread polo collar and a tonal jacquard pattern woven into the fabric.
Rather than reproduce the original Kappa logos and sleeve detailing, Barcelona have given the design a modern club-owned identity, with a cursive “Barça” script appearing on the chest and repeated along the sleeves.
The collection extends beyond the shirt, with matching blue shorts featuring branded side stripes, an 1899 striped knitted sweater and period-inspired socks also included. Supporters can additionally personalise the jersey with No. 10 printing on the back.

Across the Channel, Manchester United’s latest retro range travels into the club’s early-2000s era, revisiting some of the shirts that remain particularly popular among collectors.
One standout is the 2002-04 home shirt, a predominantly red design with black panels beneath the arms and black detailing around the neckline. It also features the classic Manchester United crest and the instantly recognisable Vodafone branding across the front.
The original shirt marked the beginning of United’s Nike era in 2002 and was worn during the club’s 2002/03 Premier League title-winning campaign under Sir Alex Ferguson. It also featured during David Beckham’s final season at Old Trafford before his move to Real Madrid.
Another major release revisits the shirt worn during Manchester United’s 2008 UEFA Champions League final triumph in Moscow.
The retro edition recreates the familiar red body, white collar and AIG sponsorship, while special embroidery on the chest commemorates the historic final.
Together, the two collections highlight football’s enduring relationship with fashion and nostalgia, proving that some of the game’s most memorable eras can still find a place in the modern wardrobe.
