Balloon release, parade held in memory of girl who died of shaken baby syndrome

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A balloon release and parade are being held in memory of an Upstate girl who died from shaken baby syndrome in 2024.

The community and local law enforcement will come together for the release at 326 Maplestead Farms around 6 p.m. to celebrate Egypt Henderson who died three years ago on Feb. 26.

At just 17-months-old, Egypt was beaten unconscious by her biological father, Joseph Morales. This caused her to go into a coma from brain trauma.

She lived for nearly a decade before she passed away. The release on Friday is in remembrance of what would have been her 13th birthday.

Everyone attending the event is asked to wear purple and gold and bring purple and gold balloons.
