Azule Energy Awards Saipem $350M Subsea Pipeline Contract for Angola’s West Hub Project

Italian energy services provider Saipem has secured a $350 million offshore contract in Angola to construct and install major subsea pipeline infrastructure for the West Hub Tails project.

The deal, awarded by Azule Energy Angola S.p.A.—a joint venture between energy giants Eni and bp—is part of the broader Agogo Integrated West Hub Development.

Located roughly 180 kilometers off the Angolan coast, the project operates in deep waters reaching up to 1,750 meters.

Under the terms of the agreement, Saipem will manage the engineering, fabrication, transportation, and installation of the complex subsea system.

The core of the operation focuses on laying approximately 62 kilometers of flowlines, risers, and umbilicals.

These pipeline connections will tie directly into the Agogo Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) unit, significantly boosting the field’s transport and processing capacity.

The entire project campaign is expected to span about two and a half years.

Fabrication work for the subsea pipeline network will take place locally at Saipem’s Ambriz yard in Angola, utilizing local suppliers and regional labor to support the domestic energy industry.

For the offshore installation phase, Saipem plans to deploy two of its specialized offshore construction vessels, the FDS and the Normand Maximus.

The contract reinforces Saipem’s presence in West Africa’s deepwater sector, where the company has long executed complex offshore engineering projects.

Saipem operates in more than 50 countries with a workforce of approximately 30,000 employees. Its fleet includes 17 offshore construction vessels and 12 drilling rigs alongside five global fabrication yards.
