Azerbaijan, Zimbabwe expand parliamentary ties

On July 6, a delegation led by Zimbabwean National Assembly Speaker Jacob Mudenda held a series of meetings at Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis.

During the meeting with Mahir Suleymanli, Head of the Working Group on Inter-Parliamentary Relations with Zimbabwe of the Milli Majlis, and members of the working group, the sides hailed the development of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe, News.Az reports, citing AZERTAC.

Mahir Suleymanli noted that the further strengthening of interparliamentary relations, reciprocal visits, and parliamentary diplomacy has made a significant contribution to the development of cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting with Sadig Gurbanov, Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology, it was noted that Azerbaijan considers the development of relations with African countries one of the key priorities of its foreign policy.

The delegation, led by Jacob Mudenda, also met with members of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Affairs.

Chairman of the Committee Samad Seyidov underlined that relations between Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe have been developing on an upward trajectory in recent years.

Emphasizing that interparliamentary relations are one of the key priorities of interstate cooperation, he noted that reciprocal visits by legislative bodies and the expansion of contacts at the level of committees and friendship groups serve to further strengthen bilateral relations.
