Avianca launches flights to Fort Lauderdale from Barranquilla and Cali

Avianca has launched direct flights connecting Barranquilla and Cali with Fort Lauderdale, adding over 5,000 weekly seats between Colombia and South Florida, filling two routes previously operated by Spirit Airlines before its collapse.

The link from the Caribbean coast began operating on July 15, while the connection from the Valle del Cauca started its deployment today, July 16. Services are operated with Airbus A320 aircraft, configured for 180 passengers, with daily frequencies on both routes, according to a company statement.

“The launch of these operations reflects our ongoing commitment to strengthening international connectivity from Colombia’s regions,” said David Alemán, Avianca’s Sales Director for Colombia and South America. “We are facilitating our customers’ access to a global network of over 80 destinations across the Americas and Europe, always under a flexible proposition so each person can choose how they prefer to fly,” he added.

The schedule from Barranquilla includes flight AV 0228 departing at 16:25, landing at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport at 20:20. The return leg operates as AV 0229, departing at 22:10 and arriving at 00:05 the following day. From Cali, service AV 0237 departs from the US terminal at 20:55 and arrives at 23:45, while the return flight AV 0236 leaves at 01:30 and touches down at 06:25.
