Steven Tendo, an immigrant from Uganda seeking asylum in Vermont, remains free as his immigration case continues. Tendo, a licensed nursing assistant at UVM Medical Center, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents earlier this year. His work authorization was revoked after spending 16 days in ICE custody, a detention later ruled unlawful by a judge. Supporters gathered outside the ICE offices in Colchester on Tuesday, where Tendo attended a deportation-related appointment. He left the appointment without being detained and is scheduled to report back to ICE in August.
