APR says no Sudan Red found in Medicube cream after Singapore recall
In Singapore, South Korean cosmetics company APR said laboratory tests found no banned industrial dye Sudan Red in two batches of Medicube PDRN Pink Collagen Capsule Cream that were involved in a product recall by the local regulator. This was reported by the Korea Herald.
APR’s test results
According to the company, cream samples with batch numbers specified by Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA) were tested by certified institutions, including in South Korea. APR said Sudan Red was not detected in these samples.
The company also reported testing at an HSA-certified institution at the regulator’s request. APR said these results are consistent with the HSA’s findings regarding products officially supplied by the company’s Singapore entity: the dye was not detected in them.

Batch recall
Earlier, the HSA found trace amounts of Sudan IV in two batches of the cream sold by Venus Beauty Pte. Ltd. The company was one of three distributors inspected by the regulator. On August 26, the HSA ordered the recall of these batches, while allowing the sale of batches from other distributors in which no contamination was found. These included APR’s official distributor in Singapore.
Sudan Red is a synthetic azo dye banned for use in food products and cosmetics due to concerns about genotoxic and carcinogenic properties. APR questioned the authenticity of the samples tested by the HSA, saying it has no records of exporting the mentioned batches to Singapore and has never supplied products to Venus Beauty. The company said it is investigating how the goods could have reached this seller.
