Durban City have returned to pre-season training without a head coach in place, as the club’s search for a successor to Pitso Dladla drags on beyond the timeline promised by chairman Farouk Kadodia.
In an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, Kadodia acknowledged the hold-up but expressed confidence that an announcement was imminent.

“Hopefully, by the end of the week, we will announce the new coach. There is a bit of a delay, but we will try to get it sorted out. Meanwhile, the team is back in training today (Monday),” the chairman said.
The squad returned to the training pitch on Monday despite the coaching vacancy remaining unresolved — a situation Kadodia had indicated weeks ago would be addressed well before pre-season began.
Last week, Kadodia confirmed to this publication that the club had drawn up a shortlist of candidates, with former Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef among those in contention for the role.
Meanwhile, the man Durban City are replacing, Dladla, is reportedly attracting interest from PSL rivals Golden Arrows.

The Durban outfit is said to be in the market for a new coach after parting ways with Manqoba Mngqithi at the end of last season – a fitting subplot given that Dladla masterminded Durban City’s promotion to the Betway Premiership and led them to Nedbank Cup glory during his tenure.
