According to a news release, Bessette was driving a 2017 Lincoln Navigator north on C.R. 39, just north of the C.R. 12 intersection while Bryce W. Parnin, 19, of Fremont, was driving south on C.R. 39 in a 2007 GMC Sierra.

Police said the Parnin vehicle was approaching the C.R. 12 intersection when his vehicle began hydroplaning due to wet road conditions. Parnin’s vehicle crossed the center line and struck the Bessette vehicle.

Parnin did not report any injuries. Police said both vehicles were total losses.

County police were assisted by the Waterloo Marshal’s Department and Waterloo Fire Department, Parkview EMS, Bill’s Towing and DeKalb County Central Communications.
