Angola gets win over Columbia City in opener | Sports

The Hornets took the first two sets en route to a 25-22, 25-21, 25-27, 25-20 win over the Eagles.

Khloe Stanner had 16 kills and three service aces for the Hornets. Kendall Holman also had 16 kills. Cali Hamilton tallied 25 digs and Gracie Fulton added 34 assists and 11 digs.

Foulk said she was pleased with the Hornets’ opening match. Angola comes off a 22-9 season a year ago and appearance in the Class 3A sectional semifinals.

“The girls played well,” Foulk said. “I couldn’t have asked them to do more.”

After the Hornets took control of the match with the first two sets, Columbia City battled back to take the third set.

Angola surged out to a 23-14 lead in the fourth set before the Eagles battled back to make things interesting late.

The Hornets are back in action Wednesday night at Bishop Dwenger. First serve in Fort Wayne is scheduled for approximately 7:30 p.m. after the conclusion of the J.V. contest.
