Air Transat gets green light for Thailand, Egypt & Saudi Arabia codeshares

Air Transat has received regulatory approval to operate codeshare flights between Canada and Thailand, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA), on August 11, issued three separate licences authorizing Air Transat to operate scheduled international services through codeshare arrangements involving the three countries.

For Thailand, the licence was granted under an air transport arrangement between the governments of Canada and Thailand set out in an Agreed Minute signed June 22, 2017.

The Egypt authorization falls under an arrangement between Canada and Egypt signed June 13, 2018.

Air Transat also secured a licence covering Saudi Arabia under a more recent bilateral arrangement between Canada and the Kingdom, set out in a Record of Discussion signed Nov. 11, 2025.

In all three decisions, the CTA said it was satisfied that Air Transat met the applicable requirements of the Canada Transportation Act and that the relevant terms and conditions of the respective bilateral arrangements had been met.

The licences authorize Air Transat to operate through codesharing on routes permitted under the respective agreements between Canada and each country.

Air Transat has not yet announced details of how it plans to use the new licences, including potential codeshare partners, routes or launch dates.
