Aidarus al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council, chaired a virtual meeting with the council’s newly appointed members to discuss political and field developments related to South Yemen. This marks the first public meeting of its kind since last January.
Council spokesperson Anwar al-Tamimi said in a statement that the meeting reflects al-Zubaidi’s direct leadership and supervision of political and organizational work, describing this oversight as “never interrupted, despite the harsh circumstances faced by the South and the unjust campaign targeting the Southern Transitional Council since December 2025.”
The statement explained that the constant presence of President al-Zubaidi has served as a moral boost for the council’s field leaders and for the southern people “in confronting conspiracies aimed at undermining the southern national project.”
It added that the council’s “organizational structure” is being strengthened by incorporating field leaders from Aden and other governorates into the Presidency, the council’s highest leadership body.
Al-Tamimi noted that the President recently appointed Ambassador Khaled al-Yamani as advisor to the Presidency and responsible for the southern political file with the United States and the United Nations — a decision he described as a “qualitative leap in the course of southern diplomatic work.”
He concluded by affirming that the southern leadership “is moving steadily to protect southern gains and to develop political and organizational work to confront challenges.”
