Libya’s Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) reported last Wednesday (1 July) that its Maintenance Department successfully restored the advanced Glycol Drying Unit (U-240B) to service. The unit had been out of service since January 19, 2025, due to a fire.
The company said this was a new technical achievement added to the company’s record of successes.
The restart came after the implementation of comprehensive and high-quality maintenance and rehabilitation work. This included the maintenance of precision instrumentation equipment, the dismantling, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of the unit’s boiler and high-pressure vessels, the replacement of filter gaskets, and the recharging of the unit with fresh glycol. The unit underwent successful operational testing on June 30, 2026, following the completion of all maintenance work on June 29, 2026.
AGOCO said the unit’s return to service is a significant strategic step that contributes to increasing gas processing efficiency and maintaining its compliance with the required technical specifications for use as fuel in the L-63 power generation turbines. This enhances operational reliability and the stability of the overall production system.
AGOCO said this major achievement reflects the efficiency and professionalism of the company’s national workforce and underscores the maintenance department’s ability to restore vital units and return them to service according to the highest technical standards. This supports the continuity of operations and reinforces a culture of achievement and reliability.
