A major blow for Al Ahly of Egypt: Youssef Belamri suffers a torn cruciate ligament

Cairo, Egypt – Al Ahly of Egypt suffered a major blow before the start of the new season, after their Moroccan player Youssef Belamri was injured with a torn cruciate ligament during the friendly match against Badalona of Spain on Wednesday, as part of the team’s training camp in Spain.

Ahmed Gaballah, head of the medical staff at Al-Ahly Club of Egypt, confirmed that medical examinations and MRI scans that Youssef Belamri underwent proved that he had a torn cruciate ligament.

Al-Ahly’s doctor explained that the medical staff is currently working on determining the date for the player to undergo surgery, in preparation for starting his treatment and rehabilitation program in the coming period.

Al Ahly of Egypt had achieved a 3-0 victory over Badalona of Spain in a match held at the “Bosque de Tosa” stadium, as part of the team’s preparations for the new season.

Al Ahly’s training camp in Spain will continue until August 20, during which the team will play a number of friendly matches in preparation for the start of next season’s competitions.
