Uganda learns opponents as Africa AirBadminton Championships draw takes shape
Uganda now knows the opponents standing between the hosts and a strong start at the Africa AirBadminton Championships Uganda 2026, with the tournament draw placing the home side in Group C alongside Mauritius and Burkina Faso.
The championship is set for 16–19 September 2026 at Aero Beach in Entebbe, bringing together some of Africa’s leading AirBadminton nations for four days of competition.
For Uganda, playing on home ground adds an extra layer of expectation as the team prepares to navigate a three-nation group and make the most of familiar surroundings.
Uganda has been drawn in Group C, where they will face Mauritius and Burkina Faso.
The group presents Uganda with two different challenges and leaves little room for complacency. With only three teams in the pool, every encounter becomes important, placing a premium on consistency and the ability to take advantage of key moments.
The home side will also carry the weight of representing the host nation, with the Aero Beach setting providing an opportunity to turn home support and knowledge of the venue into an advantage.
Group A features Benin, Tunisia and Algeria, creating another three-team contest with a mixture of North and West African representation.
Algeria arrive in a group that also includes Tunisia, giving the two North African nations a direct battle for progression alongside Benin.
The composition of Group A ensures that the championship will offer a broad test of AirBadminton across different national programmes.
Group B brings together Egypt, Burundi and Rwanda.
The East African presence of Burundi and Rwanda adds further regional interest to the championship, while Egypt provides another strong continental test in a group that promises competitive encounters.
With all three groups consisting of three nations, the opening phase is likely to be decided by the teams that handle each match with the greatest discipline and consistency.
For Uganda, the draw is more than simply a list of opponents. It marks the beginning of the competitive countdown to a championship being staged on home soil.
The tournament will also provide a major platform for AirBadminton in Uganda, bringing the rapidly developing discipline to Aero Beach, Entebbe, from 16 to 19 September.
