The Niger State police command has rescued two abducted victims and killed three suspected kidnappers during an operation in Wako village in the New Bussa area of Borgu Local Government Area of the state.

A statement on Monday by Wasiu Abiodun, the command’s spokesman, said the suspects demanded a ransom after kidnapping the victims on Thursday at about 7:30 p.m.

“Based on this report, the surveillance team attached to New-Bussa Area Command commenced investigation and mobilised with some vigilante men to Wawa forest for rescue operation on 11th September 2026.

“In the course of this, the suspected kidnappers were intercepted and there was a gun battle between the team and the hoodlums,” he said.

Mr Abiodun noted that the two abducted victims were rescued unhurt, while three suspects among the hoodlums were neutralised and others escaped with bullet injuries.

He added that the victims were debriefed and further investigation was ongoing.
