Ilorin-based side ABS FC have appointed experienced coach Festus Allen as their new head coach as the club begins preparations for the upcoming campaign.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the Taiwo Awoniyi Media Centre inside the George Innih Stadium, where Allen was formally introduced as the man tasked with steering the club forward.
He has penned a one-year deal with the outfit, setting the stage for what both parties hope will be a transformative season.
Central to Allen’s mandate is the responsibility of nurturing young talent within the squad, with club officials banking on his experience to help develop a crop of players capable of pushing ABS FC toward the top of the Nigeria National League table.
Promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League has been identified as the club’s primary target under his leadership, reflecting the ambition driving this managerial appointment.
Beyond simply managing matchday affairs, Allen’s role will extend into scouting duties, as he is expected to identify and recruit promising young players who can strengthen the squad ahead of the 2026-27 NNL season.
This dual responsibility underscores the club’s long-term vision of building a sustainable pipeline of talent rather than relying solely on short-term fixes.
The appointment comes on the back of a challenging previous campaign, during which ABS FC narrowly avoided relegation from the NNL.
That brush with the drop appears to have prompted the club’s hierarchy to prioritize experienced technical leadership, with Allen’s arrival signaling intent to stabilize the team and build toward more consistent results in the coming season.
