Where in the world is Paul Biya?

Paul Biya has led Cameroon for more than four decades. But with the 93-year-old president now absent from the country for more than two months, questions are growing about who really is in charge, and what his prolonged absence means for Cameroon’s future.

The country meanwhile is also dealing with separatist violence in its English-speaking regions, Boko Haram attacks in the north and economic pressures. Recent changes to the country’s senior military leadership have added to the overall sense of uncertainty.
