Glody Lilepo’s anticipated departure from Kaizer Chiefs appears to be edging closer, with Siya sources indicating that the Democratic Republic of Congo international has successfully undergone medical examinations ahead of his proposed move to Libya.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, uncertainty had surrounded the attacker’s future after he was noticeably absent from Amakhosi’s pre-season preparations.

The latest information reaching the Siya crew is that the 29-year-old travelled to Tunisia earlier this week, where Libyan clubs routinely conduct medical examinations before finalising transfers.

A source close to the developments has indicated that the process has gone according to plan, leaving the player on the verge of completing his move to Libyan outfit Al Ahly Benghazi.

“Lilepo travelled to Tunisia earlier this week for his medicals and everything went well. As things stand, he’s now a step closer to completing the move. The discussions between all the parties have been concluded and the financial terms have been agreed, so it’s highly unlikely that he will be playing for Kaizer Chiefs this season,” the source told Soccer Laduma.

Tunisia the location for Libyan medicals

The insider added that using Tunisia as a venue for medical examinations has become common practice for Libyan clubs.

“It’s something Libyan clubs normally do. Even in previous transfers involving players going to Libya, the medicals were conducted in Tunisia before everything was finalised. That’s the process they follow.”

Lilepo is expected back in South Africa this weekend as the remaining administrative aspects of the transfer are completed.

Should the deal be officially concluded, it would bring an end to the Congolese international’s spell with Amakhosi before the start of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.
