Launch of the STRIDES Project in Senegal: Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection for a Safer World

The U.S. Embassy recently marked an important milestone in advancing global health security with the official launch of the STRIDES (Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems) project.

Implemented under the leadership of the One Health Coordination Unit, the project brings together the Ministry of Health and Social Action, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock, the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Transition, and partners FHI 360, PATH, and Black & Veatch around a shared mission: to build stronger, faster, and more resilient disease detection and response systems.

STRIDES aims to strengthen Senegal’s capacity to detect an outbreak within seven days, notify it within one day, and respond within seven days—the (7-1-7) approach.

Together, we are building a future where no disease outbreak goes undetected.
