Cape Town to Stage South Africa’s Four-Match Hockey Test Series Against Namibia

The South African Women’s Hockey Team will host Namibia in a four-match test series, with a 24-player squad confirmed for the assignment, at Elkanah House High School and Hartleyvale Stadium in Cape Town from Monday 20 July to Friday 24 July 2026.

The series forms an important part of the South African Women’s preparations for the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup, giving the national team valuable time together in a competitive international environment as they work towards one of the biggest stages in world hockey.

Three matches will be played at Elkanah House High School, with the final test taking place at the iconic Hartleyvale Stadium.

The fixtures offer the South African side another opportunity to build combinations, test depth and sharpen match readiness ahead of the World Cup.

The squad blends experience and emerging talent, with Onthathile Zulu the most capped player on 79 appearances, supported by Hannah Pearce on 63 and Edith Molikoe on 57, while Baylee Engelke is in line for a first cap.

SA Hockey President Deon Morgan welcomed the confirmation of the series. “We are delighted to confirm this test series between South Africa and Namibia,” said Morgan. 

“As our women’s team continues its preparations for the FIH World Cup, every international fixture becomes incredibly valuable. These matches give the players and coaching staff another important opportunity to test themselves, grow together and keep building momentum.”

Morgan added that home fixtures remain an important part of strengthening the national programme and connecting the team with supporters.

“It is always special to see our national teams playing at home. We encourage clubs, schools, families and supporters to come out and get behind the South African Women as they continue their journey towards the World Cup.”
