HNEC begins training for youth local council polls

The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) has begun a training programme for sub-committees from the Ministry of Youth overseeing the second group of youth local council elections in 30 municipalities, due early next week.

The commission said the programme, held at its media centre, is part of cooperation with the ministry to prepare staff to run the vote in line with approved procedures.

An official from the commission’s Training and Procedures Department said organising the elections is the responsibility of the Ministry of Youth, while the commission’s role is limited to technical support and training.

The programme covers key stages of the electoral process, including committee duties, polling station procedures, and voting and counting.

It also includes practical simulations of election day, from the opening of polling centres to the announcement of results, aimed at improving the efficiency of those overseeing the process.
