The finals of both the women’s and the men’s Cameroon Cup competitions were held in Yaounde on Sunday. In the women’s showdown, defending trophy holders Litto Team Douala mastered a 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-22) victory over Mayo Kani Evolution Yaounde. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors went to Litto’s 22-year-old outside hitter Ahelya Joan Tchombe Souhe.
Port Autonome Douala dethroned Litto Team Douala in the men’s trophy match (pictured in the main photo; source: Fecavolley – Fédération Camerounaise de Volleyball). They put together a 3-1 (25-17, 19-25, 25-21, 25-22) win to triumph as national cup winners. Port Autonome’s 25-year-old opposite Clement Elouna received the MVP recognition.
ETHIOPIA
The final matches of the Ethiopian women’s volleyball league were played on Friday in the capital Addis Ababa. National Alcohol Addis Ababa claimed the title for the fourth consecutive time after a 3-0 victory over Federal Maremiya Betoch Addis Ababa, who took silver. Wolaita Sodo University finished in third place and claimed bronze.
