Egyptian Premier League: Al-Ahly keeps rolling, Zamalek falters

CAIRO — Drama unfolded in Round 10 of the 2025–26 Egyptian Premier League, as Al-Ahly extended their winning streak to four, Zamalek dropped more points in a 1–1 draw at Ghazl El-Mahalla, and Al-Masry reclaimed top spot with a narrow win over NBE Club in Suez.

Al-Ahly 4–2 Kahraba

Al-Ahly extended their winning streak to four matches with a 4–2 victory over Kahraba Ismailia at the Arab Contractors Stadium.

The Red Devils followed up their previous wins over Ceramica Cleopatra, Haras El-Hodood, and Zamalek with another commanding performance.

Goals from Ahmed Nabil “Koka”, Yassin Marai, Mohamed Sherif, and Achraf Bencharki sealed the win, while Mohamed Ounajem and Essam El-Fayyumi were on target for the visitors.

The result lifts Al-Ahly to 18 points, placing them third in the standings — level on points with leaders Al-Masry, who remain ahead on goal difference. Kahraba Ismailia stay 18th with 8 points.

Midfielder Koka opened the scoring in the 17th minute, slotting home a loose ball after Mohamed Hany’s cross from the right. Minutes later, Moroccan left-winger Bencharki had a goal ruled out for offside.

Defender Marai doubled the lead in the 36th minute with a fine header from an Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” corner, sending Al-Ahly into the break 2–0 ahead.

Red Devils’ striker Sherif added a third just five minutes after the restart, firing into the top corner after another assist from Zizo.

Moroccan right winger Ounajem pulled one back for Kahraba Ismailia in the 57th minute with a well-placed header following a cross from the right, exploiting a lapse in Al-Ahly’s defense.

Kahraba Ismailia pulled one back through El-Fayyumi, who fired in a precise strike from the edge of the area to make it 3–2, but Al-Ahly held firm to see out the win.

Zamalek 1–1 El-Mahalla

Zamalek once again squandered their lead, settling for a 1–1 draw with Ghazl El-Mahalla at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium — their third straight league game in which they’ve dropped points after going ahead.

Midfielder Ahmed Rabie put the White Knights in front with a towering header in the 39th minute, but left winger Mahmoud Salah levelled matters for El-Mahalla midway through the second half.

The result leaves Zamalek second in the standings with 18 points from 10 games — five wins, three draws, and two defeats — level on points with Al-Masry of Port Said but behind on goal difference. El-Mahalla sits 14th on 11 points, having drawn eight of their 10 fixtures.

It’s a familiar tale for Belgian coach Yannick Ferrera’s men, who have now lost seven of the last nine available points.

Against Al-Ahly in Round 9, Zamalek led through Hossam Abdel Meguid before goals from Hussein El-Shahat and Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” turned it around for the Red Devils.

In Round 8, they were pegged back late by El-Gouna after Oday Dabbagh’s opener.

Al-Masry 1–0 NBE

Al-Masry of Port Said reclaimed top spot in the Egyptian Premier League after edging NBE Club 1–0 at Suez Stadium.

Right winger Ahmed El-Armouty netted the decisive goal just a minute into the second half, finishing off striker Salah Mohsen’s assist. Despite going down to 10 men after Al-Masry’s defender Baher El-Mohamady’s red card, the Green Eagles held firm as NBE failed to make their numerical advantage count.

Al-Masry now sits on 18 points, levels with Zamalek but ahead on goal difference. NBE Club remains 16th with 11 points.
