Maktown Flyers Lead Benin City Centre Of Nigerian Basketball Premier League (NBPL)

As action reaches the midway point at the Benin City centre of this year’s Nigerian Basketball Premier League (NBPL), the defending champions, Maktown Flyers are leading the way among all six contenders.

Sports247 reports ahead of Saturday’s round of games at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium that Maktown won all five matches and garnered 402 points in total.

The holders are followed at a distance by debuting surprise side, Athletes For Peace, who notched four wins out of five, with their only defeat coming against the high-flying defending champions.

While Athletes For Peace have 208 points, they are ahead of Coal City Blazers with number of wins, as the team from Enugu have 288 points in two victories, but they also suffered same number of defeats.

The host club, Edo Beads are fourth with one win and 287 points, while Kwara Falcons of Ilorin lie fifth at the foot of the table with no win and 273 points.

Heading into Saturday’s fixtures, a total of 1, 480 points had been recorded by all the teams combined, as Kwara Falcons tango Coal City Blazers and Edo Beads face Athletes For Peace.
