Edo State Special Security Squad codenamed “Operation Flush out Kidnappers and Cultists” and other sister security agencies have raided a hideout at Egbaen Community in Ovia North East local government area and arrested four suspected cultists.
The principal security officer (PSO) Saturday Okoh led other security agencies yesterday to the hideout at about 6 a.m. to apprehend the suspects. Dangerous weapons were recovered from them, which linked the suspects to cult -related activities.
The weapons include four locally-made pistols, cut-to- size gun, one baretal pistol and one matchet.
They, however, denied ownership of the weapons but confessed to be members of Aiye Confraternity.
Speaking to journalists, the coordinator of the squad Noah Idemudia commended the public for the provision of useful information that helped the squad to record various successes in its operations.
He said, “In the early hours of Sunday we got an intelligent report that some members of Black Axe group wanted to carry out initiation at Egbaen Community which might lead to other disastrous activities that will cause a breakdown of law and order,” he said.
