32 teams to compete in maiden Gombe Super League – Daily Trust

No fewer than 32 football clubs will participate in the maiden edition of the Dare to Dream Gombe State Super League, an initiative of the Gombe State Football Association (FA) aimed at developing grassroots football and discovering talented players across the state.
The draw for the competition was conducted on Monday in Gombe, with the F.A saying the tournament marks a new phase in efforts to improve the standard of football and create pathways for young players to advance into professional leagues.
Chairman of the Gombe State F.A, Mr. Philibus Yakubu Sarma, said the league would serve as a platform for identifying emerging talents while providing clubs with a competitive environment to nurture players.
Sarma assured participating clubs of a transparent competition, warning that acts of hooliganism would not be tolerated.
He urged players to aim beyond local football by striving to secure opportunities in clubs across the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and the Nigeria National League (NNL).
The chairman of the competition’s Technical Committee, Mr. Ishaya, announced that the tournament will kick off on Saturday at the Pantami Stadium, where all matches are scheduled to be played.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on Youth and Sports, Bappah Abdullahi Gombe, described the initiative as the first of its kind in the state and pledged the government’s support for its success.
The participating clubs, drawn from the Gombe State League and the Nationwide League, were grouped into eight pools of four teams each.
Group A comprises Landa Boys, FC Yansamari, Pantami Pillars and Best Sport Academy, while Group B has NYSC, J/Fari Warriors, Black Scorpion and Difa United.
