2026 FIFA World Cup Morocco Breaks Multiple Records

Rabat – Morocco continues to set new records at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Atlas Lions have impressed with their performances and have already achieved several historic milestones after two matches in Group C.

Their latest record came in the 1-0 win over Scotland. Morocco completed 601 successful passes, the highest number ever recorded by an African team in a World Cup match since statistics began in 1966.

The victory also saw Ismael Saibari score after just 71 seconds. It was the fastest goal of the tournament so far.

Saibari made more history by becoming the first Moroccan player to score in two consecutive World Cup matches. He had also found the net in Morocco’s 1-1 draw against Brazil.

Morocco’s opening match against Brazil produced another impressive statistic. The Atlas Lions became only the second team since 1966 to attempt five shots in the first 10 minutes of a World Cup game against Brazil.

The 2026 tournament is also Morocco’s seventh World Cup appearance. It is the first time the country has qualified for three consecutive editions of the competition.

After two matches, Morocco sit top of Group C with four points. The Atlas Lions remain unbeaten and are on course to reach the knockout stage.
