Collins Mnangagwa, son of Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, received treatment in Belarus for drug addiction, writes Reform.news, citing the Zimbabwean publication Zimlive.
“According to sources, Collins Mnangagwa was recently sent to Belarus for rehabilitation after he allegedly got involved with drugs, which, his family claims, Taffirenika supplied him with,” the publication states.
According to journalists’ information, Collins Mnangagwa was introduced to drugs by his second wife, Kelsey Tadiwa Taffirenika.
On August 5, the 22-year-old girl appeared in court for a remand hearing in a drug trafficking case. During a search on August 4, police found pethidine, morphine, and cannabis in her home and car. Their value was estimated at $204.
According to Zimlive, Zimbabwe’s First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa personally demanded Taffirenika’s arrest and also intends to seek the return of several houses which, she claims, the girl bought with her son’s money and without his knowledge.
Collins Mnangagwa has been to Belarus at least once. In 2023, he visited Minsk with his mother and twin brother Sean. They met with Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik and businessman Alexander Zingman.
Collins Mnangagwa studied in China and then founded the gold mining company ZimCN Investments together with a Chinese partner. Local media accused the president’s son of intimidating judges and gold smuggling.
