Yemen : Houthi Forces Expand Military Presence in Ibb, Signal Escalation Toward Al-Dhalea Fronts

Ibb – Iran‑backed Houthi forces have intensified their military activities in Yemen’s Ibb province, establishing new checkpoints and fortified positions along roads leading to Al‑Dhalea, while simultaneously deploying reinforcements to frontlines, in what local and military sources describe as a clear sign of escalating confrontation.

Local residents reported that the militia set up more than ten new checkpoints and military sites across key routes linking Ibb and Al‑Dhalea, equipped with armed vehicles and personnel carriers.

These included areas such as Rabat al‑Qala’a in Kitab, Al‑Khunq, Mafarq al‑Sawada, and near Dar Saeed Hospital, extending to Al‑Mundhah station along the Buraim and Al‑Sadda districts in northeastern Ibb.

Additional positions were established in Al‑Awad area of Al‑Nadera district, close to the contact lines with Al‑Dhalea. These included checkpoints in Bayt al‑Azani, Mafarq al‑Dhulal, Al‑Fajra, and Al‑Wadi, accompanied by tightened inspections and heightened security measures targeting travelers and civilians.

Military sources confirmed that the Houthis have been sending reinforcements fighters, vehicles, and combat equipment from Yareem district toward the battlefronts of Marees, Bab Ghalq, Al‑Fakher, and Hajar in northern and western Al‑Dhalea.

Earlier reports from SeptemberNet indicated similar Houthi deployments in Qa’atabah district, where armed patrols and checkpoints were set up at village entrances and side roads to consolidate control.
