It’s never fun to comb through one’s WhatsApp chats for that one specific video, image, or gif – an effort made even more wearisome should the search turn towards the infamous ‘WhatsApp’ folder in your gallery. The Meta-owned messenger understands this and is reportedly plugging away at an update that’ll compile all your media into a single centralised hub, and it’s coming to WhatsApp Web. For now.
Scouring the WhatsApp Web
What initially started as a feature to simplify media navigation for the typically larger community group chats has seemingly been expanded to support all media, but only for WhatsApp Web users. WABetaInfo, which first spotted both features in development, reckons the first is still headed to mobile devices, though we don’t see why all users wouldn’t be able to access a similar hub for all their chats in the future.
When the new media hub eventually hits the messenger’s web client, currently “scheduled for release in a future update,” according to WABetaInfo, it’ll be tucked into the sidebar to make it as easily accessible as possible.

Once inside, users can browse through all the media received and sent, without first digging through specific chats. It’s not just media. The hub will keep an eye on all the links and documents passed through your messenger, too.
The new media hub reportedly supports caption-based searching to speed up the process and allows files to be sorted by most recent, oldest, and size. If you’re looking to delete, forward, or download media en masse, there’s a multi-select button to help simplify the process.
