Numerous rumours have circulated regarding the Galaxy Z Flip 7, and now, thanks to new leaks from @OnLeaks via Android Headlines, a potential design direction has surfaced. The renders suggest an updated aesthetic characterized by a more boxy silhouette compared to previous Galaxy Z Flip iterations. This represents a notable departure from the more rounded design language Samsung appears to be adopting for the upcoming Galaxy S25 series.
According to the leaked information, the foldable phone is expected to feature a slightly larger internal display, measuring 6.8 inches. However, a more significant change is anticipated for the cover screen, which is rumoured to expand to approximately 4 inches, a substantial 0.6-inch increase compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 6. This would position the Z Flip 7’s cover screen in close competition with that of the Razr Plus 2024.
This information aligns with earlier speculation from Ross Young, co-founder of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) and VP of Research at Counterpoint Research, who indicated that Samsung would increase the size of the displays, consequently leading to a slightly larger overall device. One leak suggests unfolded dimensions of 166.6 x 75.2 x 6.9mm, making it taller and marginally wider while maintaining a similar thickness.
Furthermore, Ross Young has suggested potential improvements to the display crease, making it less visible – a technology Samsung reportedly showcased at MWC 2025. Samsung may also explore the application of a blue phosphorescent material to its OLED panel, potentially enhancing energy efficiency and reducing power consumption.
Initial rumours hinted at the inclusion of an in-house Exynos chip for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, but current indications suggest Samsung might continue its collaboration with Snapdragon. Mirroring the approach with the Galaxy S25 series, the Z Flip 7 could feature a custom Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, promising enhanced performance compared to many other flagship Android smartphones.
Increased processing power often correlates with higher battery consumption, but fortunately, Samsung appears to be addressing this. The device is rumoured to house a larger battery with a capacity of 4,300mAh, a 300mAh increase over its predecessor. While the precise impact on battery life remains to be seen, this increase, coupled with a potentially more efficient display, is likely a positive development.
One Galaxy Z Flip 7 rumour suggests that Samsung will maintain the same camera specifications as the previous model. This would entail a 50MP primary camera paired with a 12MP ultrawide sensor, and a 10MP front-facing selfie camera.
It is currently unclear whether Samsung intends to utilize updated camera sensors or retain the same hardware as the Galaxy Z Flip 6. However, it is reasonable to anticipate that the company will further leverage its Galaxy AI suite to introduce new and enhanced camera-related features.

Considering Google’s revised Android 16 launch schedule, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could potentially be among the first devices to ship with the new operating system. According to SamMobile, Samsung is expected to launch its next generation of foldable devices with One UI 8, which will be based on Android 16.
This speculation follows earlier reports that Samsung might bypass the traditional x.1.1 update cycle and directly transition to the next major Android version. The company has also been observed testing this new software on the Galaxy S25 series.
The specific features and changes that One UI 8 will bring remain largely unknown, but it is anticipated to build upon the foundation of One UI 7, which is currently being rolled out to Galaxy devices with a revamped user interface and new functionalities.
It is also highly probable that many of the new Galaxy AI features introduced with other flagship devices will also be integrated into the Galaxy Z Flip 7, potentially alongside new AI enhancements tailored specifically for the foldable form factor. Furthermore, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to receive the same robust software update commitment as its predecessor, potentially offering up to seven years of software support.
