WAFCON 2026: Tanzania eyes second win as Burkina Faso sees comeback
Burkina Faso and Tanzania face off in an exciting Group B match at the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 in Morocco.
The two teams will meet for the very first time at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca on Friday.
Both teams enter the game after very different starts to their tournament. Burkina Faso is desperate to bounce back after a heavy 4-1 loss to Côte d’Ivoire in their opening match.
That defeat marked their heaviest loss in WAFCON history. They are still searching for their first-ever victory at the tournament, having recorded one draw and three losses so far.
Burkina Faso will also be without key player Faouzia Ouedraogo, who was sent off in their last match. However, they showed promise by creating four big chances and will look to build on that attacking effort.

On the other hand, Tanzania enters the match full of confidence. They earned a shocking 2-1 victory over defending champions South Africa in their first match.
That historic win was Tanzania’s first-ever WAFCON victory after failing to win their previous six matches. Hasnath Ubamba scored a late 87th-minute winner to secure the historic points.
If Tanzania avoids defeat against Burkina Faso, they will go unbeaten in back-to-back WAFCON matches for the very first time.
However, history shows a challenge: Tanzania has faced West African teams four times in past tournaments and lost every single match.
Burkina Faso will be fighting to stay alive in the tournament, while Tanzania aims to secure another victory and push for a spot in the next round.
