Trump warns new sanctions on Russia if they don’t agree ” peace treaty ” with Zelensky

Trump warns of additional sanctions on Russia if they do not agree to a peace treaty with Zelensky.

President Donald Trump has indicated that he may impose sanctions and tariffs on Russia until a ceasefire and peace agreement with Ukraine is established.

On his Truth Social platform, he said that due to Russia’s aggressive actions against Ukraine, he is contemplating significant banking sanctions and tariffs until a final peace settlement is achieved.

Trump called for immediate negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing the need for both parties to come to the table without delay.

He has consistently positioned himself as a potential “peacemaker” and “mediator” in the ongoing conflict, which has seen Ukraine resisting a full-scale invasion since February 2022.

During an economic update, when asked about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s commitment to peace, Trump acknowledged the current situation, noting that while relations with Russia seem manageable, their military actions against Ukraine are severe.

He expressed frustration with the negotiation process, suggesting that reaching a peace agreement might be more feasible with Russia than with Ukraine, despite the latter having significant leverage. Ahead of an upcoming diplomatic meeting in Saudi Arabia, Trump reiterated his commitment to supporting Ukraine while stressing the critical need for a resolution.
